Laughlin II

We took another quick run to Laughlin, Sunday, August 27th through Thursday, August 31st. The weather was a bit warm, 105, but cooler than the 115 that we had experienced in June.

We did the run from Needles down through Topock Canyon on Sunday afternoon, 84 degree water in the Colorado with the water level the lowest we had seen in that area, at least 2 feet down from “normal”. The sandbar was about 1 to 1 1/2 foot above the river level with lots of people enjoying all sort of activities there.

Monday we went out on Lake Mohave with the launch ramps being almost deserted. Water in the lake was 84 to 86, very nice.

Tuesday we took off (getting too old to go out every day on the water) and did some shopping in the mall.

Wednesday we went back out on the lake for a final run.  We have one more scheduled trip this year, to Long Beach with Jennifer on September 16th.

Our place to stay, the Flamingo, is undergoing a great deal of change, lots of remodeling, slot changes, expanded show theater, etc. We will  NOT be staying there on our next trip unless they change a couple of policies, We were charged $15 a NIGHT to park our truck (formerly all boat/truck parking had been free) without any advance warning. This was more than our room cost and a poor way to retain customers.  We will be staying in a more boat friendly resort like the Riverside where they actually like boaters.
